Almond Hartzog presents "Picture my D.N.A…" an exhibition of paintings and works by Los Angeles fashion designer, J. Mary.
It's the pulse of the ground and soil, a soft gradation of sound and vision, and the profound personal navigation of one through space and time…
In the early nineties Jennifer traveled to her hometown of Stockton, CA, to document the vast and desolate landscape of her childhood. With long exposure she captured the sharp light of the horizon that eventually would become the medium of this body of work.
Rhythm develops: Upon returning to Los Angeles Jennifer embarked on the process of recreating the acute lines of light with paint on canvas, combining colors and adding texture to the portraits. She warmed up her cognitive process pulling hangar after hangar of garments off clothing racks in thrift stores, and in the miles of clothes, internalizing the material decisions, hunting for "smart" design choices in the discarded artifacts.
Jennifer attended Otis Parsons receiving a degree in Fine Art. She's been many places, raised a family, and created a body of work blurring boundaries between art and fashion.
In 2000, She participated in "Malerai" a major Berlin Exhibition amongst top
International-painters, and later showed in Cologne, and Los Angeles.
Her clothes are favorites amongst stars like Janet Jackson, Jennifer Anniston, Diane Keaton, Demi Moore, Diana Ross, Winona Ryder, and other not so famous people too.
